Aalborg University offers education and research within the fields of natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, technical and health sciences. More than 20.000 students are enrolled at Aalborg University, ranging from students at preparatory courses through doctoral-level candidates.


SCN Anholtvej (SenhjerneskadeCenter Nord/Late Brain Injury Center North) is a residential home with 24 flats. The residents suffer from severe acquired brain injuries and have permanent cognitive and/or psychical impairments. They all need help to cope with everyday life. The center is built as a combined care home and living lab. This construction sets the framework for innovative collaborations in an authentic environment. In the living lab SCN staff and residents collaborate with researchers and private companies to create new knowledge and innovative solutions and products.


Neurocenter Østerskoven offers rehabilitation for adolescents and adults with congenital or acquired brain damage as well as an individual 3 year long education program for adolescents. Based on an individually designed rehabilitation process, Østerskoven seeks to improve the functional level of residents on physical, cognitive, personal, and social aspects. The stay is based on the individual's resources and constraints and aims at helping to ensure maximum participation in the resident's own life. In order to support each citizen optimally, highly specialized knowledge and an interdisciplinary approach is central. Neurocenter Østerskoven thus works to produce added value for each citizen as well as for society by actively pushing the limits in rehabilitation for people with brain damage.


Future Lab is part of SOSU Nord, North Jutland's Social and Health Education College. By establishing Future Lab, SOSU Nord seeks to add the human look to tomorrow's technologies, in the areas of care, support and educational theory. Additionally, Future Lab comprises the establishment of an experimental workshop, a centre where new technology can be presented to interested parties, and where collaborators may be invited to perform tests, analyse experiences and implementation of the technology. Having the professional expertise from both employee and citizen perspectives, SOSU Nord's Future Lab is able to provide knowledge and competence in the areas of care, support and educational theory, in support of investigations and tests of social and scientific perspectives. For example SOSU Nord's Future Lab is able to cooperate regarding the implementation of robot technology.


University of Gent Industrial Design Center (IDC) is an open knowledge and communication platform between the industry, education, research and educational programs of UGent association. The center has the ambition to be an authority on high-and low-end prototyping, lighting, creativity, sustainability, interaction, assistive technology and communications.  The expertise lays on several aspects of the industrial design process and applies a pragmatic “research though design” methodology. This is supported by the use of creativity and iterative prototyping to engage with relevant stakeholders. Their aim is to understand, improve, and augment the field of industrial design by having an impact on education, industry, and academia. IDC is actively involved in science learning and STEM activities by contributing to a broad range of events such as Science Week, Childrens’ University as well as PhD research.


ASLERD is a cutting edge interdisciplinary think-tank, joined by individuals and Institutions, owning different and complementary backgrounds. The Association promotes debates, researches and concrete actions needed to rise awareness about, and foster the development of, smart learning ecosystems (schools, campuses, working places and virtual environments) considered as potential drivers of social innovation, territorial development and of the education of smart citizens. ASLERD supports a social, participatory and co-evolutive approach to the transformations of all components of the learning processes induced by the digital revolution: places, contents, processes, competences, monitoring approaches.
